Uganda Gorilla Adventure (UGA)

The Ugandan Gorilla Adventure extension has been scheduled to allow anyone on the Southern Africa tour to participate. You would be responsible for a Kigali to Victoria Falls flight and lodging between. Notes: there are no convenient or inexpensive flights from Kigali to Victoria Falls; Gorilla permits sell out early and participation depends upon availability.

Day 1 Kigali - Bwindi National Park
A morning flight (East Africa tour only) delivers us from Nairobi and our first Kigali sight is the Genocide Museum. The Genocide Memorial is an extraordinary facility and our visit there will have a deeply moving affect on all of us. After lunch together we will drive through the verdant rolling hills of Rwanda to the Ugandan border and Bwindi National Park. After dinner we’ll be briefed on the next day's activities.

Day 2  Bwindi
After an early breakfast we leave for our highly awaited Gorilla trekking experience. We’ll drive in sturdy 4x4s to Rushaga HQ where you will be allocated to a Gorilla family to track. Rushaga sector is well known for sheltering a high number of habituated mountain gorilla families. Interacting with these docile but magnificent animals is a memorable experience. Each gorilla family is led by a Silverback who determines the movements and daily activities within the family. Our adventure will take anywhere from 3 to 6 hours, depending on how far we must trek to find our respective gorilla groups.

Day 3  Kigali
In the morning you may choose from optional activities or simply relax. Available choices include a Golden Monkey safari, a guided nature walk, or a Batwa Village cultural visit. After lunch we will make the drive back to Kigali, arriving about 5:00PM. You may be dropped downtown or at the International Airport.
